So you made the choice to come to this page. This means that you want to know about me, or you clicked in error, and even now, are probably cursing and redirecting your attention to the page you were intending to access. In case it’s the former, I’ll fill you in.
I’m Phil. I’m 29, and I live in Bath. I’m married. These things are all true, and intrigue me to no end. They are unlikely to intrigue you, so I’ll tell you some other things.
I spend my days and plenty of evenings bashing strings with hammers. The great thing is, I get paid to do it. It’s such a popular activity, I even get paid to show other people how to do it. However, ‘Amazing hammer basher,’ does not look good on a CV, so I generally refer to myself as a pianist/piano teacher/accompanist.
I’m also a professional type 1 diabetic, and have been since my official diagnosis in 1990 at the age of 3. I may post the odd thing about it here, but that’s probably not going to be my focus. What I will say, is that I give my healthcare team no end of trouble by ignoring traditional dietary guidance and following a low carbohydrate diet. Been doing it for over 2 years, and it’s worked wonders.
And now, the main point of this blog. I also love to write. Recent successes have come courtesy of http://www.hourofwrites.com. I’ve won three of their competitions, and come runner up twice too. You can find my writing there under the user name ‘Phidgers.’ (I was in a hurry when making my account, so I just shoved my first and last names together, then deleted a few of the letters).
My big writing project at the moment is a novel, the working title of which is ‘The Fractured Isle.’ It’s a fantasy, aimed at those grownups you sometimes see wandering around places. I’m a fan of both George R.R. Martin and Joe Abercrombie, and have probably been influenced to some degree by their writing. At this moment in time, I’ve finished my 2nd draft. The plan is to have my plethora of revisions done by the end of February 2017.
I love the idea of that multimedia stuff that the cool kids are probably not talking about right now. I’ve had a go at making my own audio story type thing, again, purely for the fun of it. It’s currently sitting awkwardly at http://www.soundcloud.com/philcharlesr, wondering if it should buy a drink or just leave.
That’s it about me currently! Pianist, aspiring writer, type 1 diabetic. I’ll be posting my random musings, detailing progress with my writing, and possibly other things too. You gotta have a bit of mystery, right?
